Outdoor dining spaces offer a unique ambiance for restaurants, but Bengaluru’s unpredictable weather often makes terrace seating difficult to operate consistently throughout the year. Known for sudden rain showers and extended monsoon periods, the city experiences weather changes that can disrupt open air hospitality spaces with little warning. For The Reservoire restaurant in Koramangala, the objective was to create a flexible terrace roofing solution that would provide protection from rain while maintaining the open and vibrant atmosphere of the space.
Flexible Terrace Dining for Bengaluru’s Changing Weather
The terrace at The Reservoire offered an attractive outdoor dining experience, but exposure to sudden rainfall and harsh weather conditions affected usability and guest comfort. Bengaluru receives substantial seasonal rainfall, and unexpected showers are common even outside peak monsoon months. To ensure uninterrupted operations and year round functionality, a motorised polycarbonate retractable roof system was selected. The transparent polycarbonate material allows natural light to enter the space while protecting diners from rain and external weather conditions.

The motorised retractable mechanism provides operational flexibility, allowing the restaurant to open or close the roof depending on weather conditions and the desired ambiance. This enables the terrace to retain its open air appeal during pleasant weather while instantly transforming into a protected dining area during rain. The system integrates seamlessly with the restaurant’s design and enhances both customer experience and space utilisation. The result is a functional, all weather terrace dining environment that supports uninterrupted hospitality operations throughout the year.
