Open air decks on cruise vessels offer a unique experience, but constant exposure to sun, rain, and coastal conditions can limit their usability. For this project at the Big Daddy Casino Cruise in Goa, the objective was to create a weather protected environment on the top deck without compromising the open air appeal. The solution needed to withstand marine conditions while ensuring comfort, durability, and a seamless guest experience.
Engineered for Marine Conditions and Guest Comfort
The primary challenge was to design a roofing system suitable for a cruise environment, where exposure to moisture, wind, and varying weather conditions is significantly higher than on land. The top deck required a solution that could provide reliable protection during rain while still allowing flexibility to open up the space when needed. A PVDF fabric retractable roof was selected for its strength, weather resistance, and ability to perform effectively in coastal and marine environments.

The retractable system allows the roof to be opened or closed based on operational requirements, enabling the casino to offer both open air and covered experiences on the same deck. The PVDF fabric ensures durability, resistance to environmental factors, and a clean, premium finish. The installation was carefully executed to integrate with the existing structure, resulting in a functional and visually appealing solution that enhances usability while maintaining the vibrant atmosphere of the space.
